Equality South West - recent website release
One of my final few projects working with the team at Peacock Carter has come to a close, following a launch in mid-April, and I wanted to write up a post about the project and my involvement: the website redesign and redevelopment for Equality South West.
Equality South West is a charity based in Taunton, Somerset who are "dedicated to promoting equality and diversity throughout the South West of England". I succesfuly tendered for the project, and following a project interview at their office, which involved myself and Ian whizzing down to Taunton and back in the same day (something I won't be repeating anytime soon!), we were awarded the project.
The project involved developing a CMS powered website complete with a multi-group members area, events calendar, event booking and payment system, recruitment form with support for equality and diversity monitoring, automated importing of news articles via RSS, a dynamic knowledgebase, importing of hundreds and hundreds of pages of content from their previous website, and integrating with their internal CRM Gold-Vision (something for another post).
The end result was a clean, modern and professional website which reflected their identity, and offers a huge range of services to their members to support their aims and objectives.
My main involvement in the project was:
- Tendering / Pitching for the work
- Managing the project
- Developing the recruitment features, including monitoring based on equality and diversity properties
- Developing the events calendar
- Providing technical direction to Ian during the development of the events booking system
- Providing technical direction to Richard during the development of the new RSS importing and the knowledgebase
- Integrating the system with Gold-Vision
- Importing content from their old site
- Adding YouTube, SlideShare and MP3 player capabilities to TinyMCE
