I'm a web developer specialising in PHP with MySQL (although I handle other web related projects too) from Newcastle. I jointly own and run, with Richard, Peacock Carter, a digital agency based in the North East of England, I also have some other business interests.
Naturally, being a web guy, I'm a geek - but I'm OK with that. I've used by expertise to write four books (and am onto my fifth), develop Peacock Carter's content management system, Toucan CMS, and act as technical reviewer on another two books. In 2008 I launched learnr, an online web application for which I am project manager.
I occasionally take on small acting roles with my uncles Theatre group Juniper Productions when they need a part filling, but since they are normally fully cast you will normally only find me helping out front of house or back stage on performance nights. The group is 10 years old this year, and was setup to help suffers of enduring mental health difficulties, and it does a fantastic job! Parts I have had in the past include: Jack and the Beanstalk (Jack), Who Killed Santa Claus (Paul Reston), Aladdin (Grand Vizier), Who Goes Bare (Max), Rumplestiltzkin (boy).
I graduated from Durham University with a BSc in Software Engineering, while there I got quite active within the JCR of Collingwood College. I took on the executive role of JCR Treasurer, where I implemented online ordering for formal meals, events and custom embroided clothing. All of which was hand coded especially for the job. A year later I took over the management of the website, where along with Richard, we upgraded the website, moved our custom e-commerce tools over, created an SMS reminder system, and rebuilt some of the old features.
